"Yes ma’am my son … we’re at KFC and my son, he’s not breathing.” Those were the words of a distraught Texas father to the 911 emergency operator Oct. 12 after his 3-year-old boy became unresponsive. In the background, the child’s mother can be heard sobbing, “Brayden, Brayden!” The dispatcher sent EMS to the location, but Granbury police officer Chase Miller happened to be scanning the radio channels and realized he was just a minute away from the family. Dashcam video shows Miller drive into the KFC parking lot and take the limp child, dressed in shorts and a yellow-and-gray T-shirt, from his mother." –Source
Why I ask do so many people hate police? Besides the fact that the politically controlled media likes to make them look bad, and the overwhelming majority of police officers out there (especially outside the cities) are very nice people. I know, I used to live near Chicago where I saw and experienced some first-hand police violence and bribery more than once. But still, the majority of the cops weren't that bad. And outside the city in the rural areas where I am now, they're downright cordial. (hint: get out of the cities!)
Now I can understand how some people that have experienced a police officer beating them or even killing a loved one can harbor some hatred deep inside for the police. But I have every reason to hate the police as well if you count the times I was roughed up on occasion or even when I was beaten by four police at one time in a jail cell. But I knew all along that first of all, I wasn't being very cooperative with the officers doing their job and secondly, as many times as I have had to deal with police, most of them were very professional and gentle in how they performed their duty.
Now some people simply hate police because they got a ticket when they got caught speeding. Truth is you broke the law. That police officer was merely doing his or her job to protect you or your loved ones from people that drive recklessly. The speed limit is there for a reason. It's not to remind us of government control over us and so it's a direct reason for the 'patriot' to slam down the accelerator. It's to remind us of the safe operating speed limit for cars and trucks wherein speeding can cause serious problems if something unexpected happens, like a child on a bike, or another driver who is having a medical issue behind the wheel. We need to keep in mind that on average cars weigh about 2 tons and a semi on average is anywhere from 10 to 20 tons empty. If you're speeding and unable to stop in time, someone can die. Speed limits serve a purpose in a civilized society.
Now for the reality that most people fail to remember when it comes to the police. Not only are they there to hand out tickets, but these men and women in blue often run into danger wherein their lives can end. How many of us would run into a fire fight with bullets blazing? We've all seen the videos of cops being fired upon who run into the hail of bullets to protect the people around them; or the police officer that literally goes into a burning bus to get children out; or in the case of this video, they come and administer emergency aid that in many instances, and is this case here, it saved the life of a beautiful 3 year old boy.
So.. the next time you get pulled over for speeding. Don't yell at the police officer. Everyone does that! And more often than not, when that police office comes to your car window, he or she already heard a few people screaming at them. How would you like to deal with that every day? But if you smile and say thank you for doing your job, you can bless their hearts during a mostly thankless job.
As A Christian it is your duty to reflect Jesus Christ. Smile and thank the officer for the ticket, which by the way will help you better focus the next time you're on the road and thank him or her for doing their duty as they have literally been ordained to do. For it is written in Romans 13:1-7, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."
(PS.. please pray for the mom and dad. They need to see God's hand in all this. And yes.. I noticed her shirt. Hence the prayer request.)
