Sabbath, November 05, 2011 - "Reflecting a Godly or
Christ-like Character"
- “What Would Jesus Do”
- In order to make a sound decision between moral
and immoral, a person has to be conscious of the existence between the
two.
- If a person already accepts an immoral act as
part of their everyday life, then they DO NOT have the capability to determine
the act as immoral
- If you don’t know God, you can’t know Jesus, and
if you don’t know Jesus, then how could you know what He would do?
- If the Christian would learn and adhere to this
phrase, “Is what I am thinking, saying or doing, reflecting Christ in my
character?” then the question should arise each and every time there is a
decision of thought, speech or action.
- Gen_6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
- Psa_94:11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that
they are vanity.
- Psa_10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his
countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
- Psa_139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me,
and know my thoughts:
- Pro_16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy
thoughts shall be established. 2Co_10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ;
- For the word of God is quick,
and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb_4:12
- 1Sa_2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not
arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by
him actions are weighed.
Mat_12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being
evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth
speaketh.
Mat_6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions,
as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much
speaking.
Mat_12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that
men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Jas_4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He
that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of
the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of
the law, but a judge.
- if you have jesting in your relationship by
saying hurtful things, but follow up with a “just kidding”, or picking on each
other, your relationship will erode and erode in a devastating way.
- Psa_35:28 And my tongue shall
speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
Psa_49:3
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall
be of understanding.
Psa_119:27 Make me to understand the way
of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
Psa_119:172
My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.
Pro_15:23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word
spoken in due season, how good is it!
- Mat_10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought
how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye
shall speak.
Mat_10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit
of your Father which speaketh in you.
1Pe_4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the
oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God
giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom
be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
- 1Co_1:10 Now I
beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak
the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be
perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
- Psa_11:3 If the
foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Psa_34:14 Depart
from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Lev_22:31 Therefore
shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.
Deu_5:32 Ye shall
observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not
turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Psa_143:10 Teach
me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the
land of uprightness.
Isa_1:17 Learn to
do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for
the widow.
- Christ will come as the Great Harvester, ready
to gather His people, to live with Him for eternity!
